People Don and Margie Cook Don and Margie Cook are Associate Members of rep - an organization dedicated to repurposing businesses and transforming societies. (see: www.repurposing.biz). As part of the rep Community Track, their vision is to help widows and needy people in India by providing houses, teaching people how to build houses and encouraging people to start small construction-related businesses. Don is an educator and an engineer. He has industrial and managerial experience in the soap and detergent industries, the oil industry, construction, and civil engineering. He pioneered chemical engineering education at the Cape Technikon, South Africa where he served as Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering. Don has more than 20 years of experience in teaching technology-related subjects. Margie and Don are based in Kailua Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. They travel regularly to Asia and Africa. After moving from South Africa to Hawaii in 1998, Don and Margie worked on developing an international leadership training center in Kona and helped to establish a local Christian congregation. Don and Margie have been married for 37 years and are the parents of Andrew, Jo-Ann, Megan and Iain. They are also the parents-in-law of Karla (married to Andrew) and Anthony Cawood (married to Megan). All members of the family have traveled extensively and have had experience in Christian outreach and teaching in various parts of the world. Margie is an accomplished teacher and encourager. She was involved in starting a Christian preschool in South Africa and helped to grow the schools that Andrew, Jo-Ann, Megan, Anthony and Iain attended. She is passionate about Christian family life and has taught internationally on Hospitality and Christian Leadership. Margie is also experienced in business development and business consulting.
